Professional Moments

I have spent a lifetime planning strategically both personally and professionally. As a higher education administrator in the area of business and finance I carried out strategic budget planning for universities and now I apply those same skills in assisting individuals, families, and businesses in reaching their long-term financial goals. I strive to provide exceptional service to each of my clients through putting an equal emphasis on both financial planning and investments.

I spent 2.5 years as a financial advisor at Waddell & Reed and 1/2 year at Epic Trust Investment Advisors. Prior I had 13 years of Higher Ed Finance experience as well as serving as a Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at Washington State University Tri-Cities, Executive Director of Administration in the Business and Finance office at Utah State University, and as a Director in the area of Business Affairs at WSU (Pullman).

Interests & Passions

My husband, David and I have 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Our entire family are outdoor enthusiasts.  Some of our favorite activities are cycling, swimming, cross-country skiing and golf. We love to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle. Our Chocolate lab, Marvi, joins us on the dog ski trails.

Growing up, my family attended Central United Protestant church in Richland, Washington where my parents, Jack & Gwen Selby also sang in the choir for as long as I can remember. Currently I enjoy attending Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) a non-denominational organization.

Throughout my childhood and as an adult, I witnessed my parents helping others fund their college or technical school education. My husband and I desire to follow in their footsteps.

Fun Facts

Fact #1 After my folks passed away I met my birth family and learned that my small feet with incredibly high arches run in the family. Mystery solved… I have been blessed with having loving and supportive parents throughout my childhood and most of my adult life. I am also in awe of my birth family and how loving they are to family and so many others.

Fact #2 My father-in-law, Bill Painter, broke the record for the oldest person to have climbed Mount Ranier. My husband and I, son Cam (who led the way), Mark & Jimalee Painter, were honored to accompany Pa Pa when he broke the record the first time at the age of 81. Of course he re-broke his record at the age of 82, 83, and 84.

Fact #3 For our honeymoon, Dave and I hiked the Swiss Alps from Chamoniz, France to Zermott, Switzerland. Truly an “epic” adventure that we will never forget. Our wedding was also in the mountains at my folks cabin on Chinook Pass. Mom made strawberry, chocolate, and carrot sheet cakes for dessert. Dad wore shorts and black socks to walk me down the path and give me away. My great Aunt Elsie and Uncle Loyd were able to make the trip from Kansas to join us for a very small and intimate wedding in God’s country in the mountains.

What the rest of the team says about Lori...

“Lori is tenacious and a winner.  Strong, athletic, book-smart and street-smart, and she knows her stuff.  Someday soon, I’d like to race her on a bicycle, but it would be a miracle if I beat her. Tough to compete with a world class ranked athlete.”

“Lori’s willingness to service those in the community is touching. In an industry where many obstacles can hinder women from being SUCCESSFUL, Lori’s DRIVE and DETERMINATION has allowed her to push through showing she BELONGS.

Working with Lori is a pleasure, she shows up every day to work full of JOY and a POSITIVE mentality!

“Lori is an inspiration to us all! Her drive and energy is next to none. She always has a smile on her face and spreads that smile to others.”
